Washington—With a quarter-century of trade show and association experience under her belt, Susan Krys recently joined the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) as head of its Trade shows and Marketing Department. Her responsibilities cover everything from leading trade shows to managing show marketing, meetings and initiatives.
Noting her extensive trade show knowledge and association experience, PLASTICS President and CEO Bill Carteaux called Rhys “an invaluable asset to the PLASTICS team” and said she “brings talent and exciting new leadership to our signature trade show, NPE2018: The Plastics Show.”
Prior to coming aboard at PLASTICS, Krys was Vice President of Program Development at the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), managing educational conferences, training, sales and events. She came to ISPE from the American College of Cardiology (ACC), where for eight years she served as Senior Director of Promotions and Industry Events and oversaw industry involvement in the ACC’s Annual Scientific Session.
Krys also has a sales and marketing background. As Director of Exhibit Sales and Exhibitor Marketing for the Telecommunications Industry Association, she was in charge of a $32 million budget and 12 staffers in sales, marketing and event operations. While there, she worked on the country’s largest telecommunications networking event. Other areas of expertise include food and sports marketing, as well as healthcare.
“This position gave has given me the opportunity to return to the world of major events and apply more than 25 years of trade show management experience to an event that shapes one of the world’s largest industries,” Krys said. “As the gathering place for the plastics industry, NPE2018 will be spotlighting new technologies, such as 3D/4D printing, and focusing on recycling and sustainability, which are vital to our industry’s future. I’m really excited to be a part of this dynamic group of professionals, and I look forward to leading this event to new levels of success for our exhibitors, attendees and the plastics industry at large.”
